St.Anne Holy Water

£7.00

This holy water has been gathered from the Buxton Sacred Spring. Buxton’s St.Anne Well is the earliest site dedication to St.Anne in the UK, and was continuously dressed every year, a pagan practice that continued on long after Christianisation.

It’s a truly ancient well, used for blessings, fertility and healing.

This well is an ancient well- dating back to a Romano-Celtic settlement who honoured the spring as much as we do today! It is maintained and worked with throughout the year because of it’s easy accessibility- and is used locally as a drinking source.

This holy water is presented in a 30ml Glass Bottle with Stopper cap, and contains consecrated salt and spar stones as a preservative and as a classic folk magic amplifier.

St.Anne is the patron of sailors, ports, harbours, unmarried women, housewives, women in labor or who want to be pregnant, grandmothers, mothers and educators. She is also a patron of horseback riders, cabinet-makers, miners, homemakers, housewives, lace makers, seamstresses, old-clothes dealers, stablemen, poor people, childless people, marriage and the family. She is regarded here in the UK as the face of the great ancestors of the past. She is often consulted during love divination, and is invoked to remove and deflect the evil eye. She wears green and roses are sacred to her. Within British folklore, Anne is regarded as being a sacred temple within herself, where all holy things can reside within her.

‘The Sun burnt clouds but glimmer to the fight,
when at fam’d Buxton’s hot bath we alight,
unto St. Ann the Fountain sacred is:
With waters hot and cold its sources rise,
And in its Sulphur-veins there’s medicine lies.
This cures the Palfied members of the Old,

And Cherishes the Nerves grown Stiff and cold.
Crutches the Lame unto its brink convey,
Returning the ungrades filing them away.
The Barren hither to be fruitful come,
And without help of spouse, go pregnant home,
into a ciltern Square, the water Flows
And seldom higher than five foot it goes.’

HOW THIS WATER WAS COLLECTED

This water was collected as part of a pilgrimage Tarn went on around the Peak District.

An appropriate offering and blessings were left to pay the spirits the use of their well for workings. Blessings were placed upon the rocks surrounding the well, and especially the trees. Bottles were submerged into the cool mountain water with a prayer, and consecrated salt and spar stanes were added later to the individual bottles. All rituals were made in accordance with the Indigenous Fairy Faith, and animistic beliefs of the land.
