In Orphic Hymns Grimoire, Sara L. Mastros transforms the devotional hymns of Orpheus, the oracular hero of ancient Greece, into a functional, working grimoire for contemporary magicians.
Each prayer is given context, as there’s numerous spells, rituals and potions included within this book. Most of the rituals are inspired by, or in the style of the PGM.

Bibliography & Further Reading
If you’re a witch looking to incorporate magical rituals in with the orphic hymns and Hellenistic elements this is a great book to have- especially if you want to explore ecstatic orphic rituals. If you want the orphic hymns as plain focal point, we’d recommend Dunn’s The Orphic Hymns : A New Translation for the Occult Practitioner instead. There’s a section in the front of the book going through her translation choices. The book also comes with supplementary information from other texts that link in with the Orphic hymns and the PGM.
Warning: This book does contain sexual content, as inkeeping with Bacchanalian and Ecstatic themes.

Why we love it
We love the orphic hymns, and this book not only gives a wonderful translation of the hymns, but also has many spells from which to take inspiration. The context and notation are also useful for further exploration. It’s a great launching point for those wanting to enter into a deeper practice with the orphic hymns. The drawings are specifically chosen to be simple in design to allow the readers to use them within their ritual to ensoul them as ikons.
