Citrine is a form of quartz, and can be find in various places around the UK, along with it’s siblings Amethyst and Smokey Quartz.

Citrine is famously a stone of prosperity and the sun within living folklore here in the UK. The sun holds a great significance here in the UK- the prosperity and abundance of the land linked to the fickle nature of the sun. As such, many things with a solar nature are also worked with for abundance.

It’s also often used as a stone of confidence, courage and motivation in the UK -also things attributed to solar energies and spirits. Citrine is also used as a protective stone- a light within the darkness, and banisher of threats. It was perhaps because of these connotations, as well as the stones natural beauty, that it was used to adorn weaponry- especially in Scotland, where there is a wealth of citrine.

Being solar in nature, it’s also considered to be a spirit of inspiration and quick thinking.

With all of these attributes, it’s considered to be a ‘lucky’ stone, as it boosts so many areas simultaneously.

If identified with the Chrysoliths of legend (as is probably the case with Pliny and others- often misidentified with topaz- especially if mentioned to be of a yellow/orange colour), it would be used to ‘deliver from madness’ (Grand Albert), Used in solar ornamentation (Secrets of Solomon), And would be used to gather ‘demons and winds’, and protect a space from evil and the dead. Ways of Working

Crystals are excellent to use within spell workings- they’re spirits to be worked with as much as any candle or herb! They can be placed into a spell box, charged and buried, crafted into devotional items, used within wisht boards and sigil work and so much more!  They can be left in an area of the home to be constantly worked with as a permanent companion, or simply moved to the altar when you want to do focused workings.

This citrine here is heat-treated amethyst- amethyst that is then heated to become physically citrine and attain the physical attributes of citrine. It’s essentially the same as the natural process, except sped up. To make sure that this citrine learnt the lessons that all other citrine spirits learn within the earth, they’re placed alongside natural citrine crystals so they learn the ins and outs of their craft.

Average weight is 136g- so some are slightly smaller, and some are bigger.
