Clear Quartz Crystal Chip Jars

Clear Quartz is a classic favourite crystal for folk magic. They’re often called spar stones, Godstones or MaryStones in the UK, and their natural gift is amplification, rejuvenation, healing, blessing and enchantment. They’re seen to be natural stores of energy, created from the waters and could be further fuelled by the sun and moon. It’s a stone that reaches to all worlds and spaces, including the realm of the fair folk. It’s for this reason why it’s left on graves here in the UK, or at the edges of the doorway. It’s powers spread far and wide- one of the reasons why this stone is so good for communication.

Apart from being sacred to the fair folk, quartz was also sacred to the ancestors- not only do we see it in the graves, but we also see it decorating relics and being placed amongst the ashes of cremation urns.

When used in magic in the UK and Ireland, we see quartz being used in groups of 3, 5, 7 and 9. Sacred numbers to work with the spar stones was common, and isn’t an uncommon find near healing wells and other sacred spaces.

Clear Quartz should be worked with carefully, with great respect- they’re powerful stones, capable of great magic. But as being allied to the fair folk and other powerful beings, they should be given their due. They’re capable of enchanting almost anything with the right words, symbols or charms.

Crystal Chips are excellent to use within spell workings. They can be used to dress a candle, be placed into a spell pouch, charged and buried, crafted into devotional items and so much more! An essential tool for any witch working with crystals in an animistic fashion. Because of their small size, they’re perfect for combining with other forms of magic- they work well alongside herbs, sigils, tree bark and many other craft items.
